It may sound obvious, but if you take the difficult decision to get divorced, you are going to need expert legal advice and, in the majority of cases, representation. Prentice Family Law is a firm that puts the needs of clients at the centre of everything we do. We want you to trust that we will give you the best advice that’s tailored to your particular needs and we will do that by listening and communicating with you, every step of the way.
Although we are a firm of divorce solicitors in Guildford, we offer a remote service to people living further afield. We are contactable 7 days a week and, if you can’t meet in person, we can communicate by Skype, telephone, email and letter. Our flexible service begins with a free telephone consultation, where you can ask as many questions as you wish. We will get a good understanding of your situation and we will be able to devise a plan of how we should proceed, advising you of costs from the outset. We know you’ll be feeling a myriad of emotions and we want to relieve the legal pressure as much as possible by taking control of your interests; you will be able to trust that we’ve got you covered when it comes to the legalities of family law.
Areas of legal representation
When you are getting divorced, you have to dissolve your marriage through court. There is legal paperwork that must be completed in order to petition the court to dissolve the marriage and ensure that, by the end of the process, you have your decree absolute, which means that the marriage has legally been dissolved. This paperwork can be completed by you for free, but if you would like our assistance, we charge a fixed fee, plus VAT and this is all you will have to pay, no matter how long it takes to complete. This paperwork does not include financial settlements or arrangements for children; these need to be dealt with by us as divorce solicitors in Guildford, at the same time as you are filing for divorce.
Financial settlements
Financial settlements can be the most complicated aspect of getting divorced; we advise that you seek support with this as quickly as possible. We will give you honest advice about your particular situation, and we will outline how much our services will be from the outset. We are here to make your life easier, when it comes to getting everything resolved between parties. The initial free consultation will enable us to discuss your particular situation in depth and we will answer any questions you may have.
Arrangements for children
We deal with family law ‘child custody’ matters. We do not deal with private law. Our aim is to use our expertise and specialist knowledge to ensure that you get the best deal for your children’s needs, if you are unable to resolve this with the other parent without legal intervention. The important thing for all parties is to put the interests of the children first and we will work for the right outcome, representing your legal rights.
Seeking legal representation and advice for divorce proceedings may feel emotional, but let us help you to get through it with the appropriate support and guidance that you need. We’re here to help you and we want the best for you; it’s what you deserve.
